Forestburgh TRUTH United

To All Town Residents,

November 3rd is fast approaching and as I am asking for your support in the upcoming election, there are a few things I would like you to understand as it was brought to my attention that perhaps you may be unaware as to how things work "behind the scenes" within our Building Department.

Below you will find 3 different criteria for the actions which are taken on property maintenance issues:

  • Building without a permit and erecting a structure without going through the proper channels such as Building Inspector approval, inspection of the architects plans, payment of fees, Building Department, Planning Board and/or Zoning Department approval before ANY construction can begin.  There is 1 project in town that is in the Town Attorney's hands and action is being taken to make him compliant.  A stop work order  has been issued.
  • Property maintenance issues such as 1 brought to the attention of the Town Board by the Fire Department is also in the hands of the Town Attorney to make them compliant.
  • Basic property maintenance issues, which pertain to vehicles, poorly maintained and deteriorating structures, as well as excessive lawn debris are being dealt with by the Code Enforcement Officer as follows:  First offense is a verbal warning, second offense is a written warning and third offense is an appearance ticket.

I have always tried to support this community in a professional manner.  Any and all decisions made while in the capacity as supervisor are made only after my own due diligence has been exercised, along with the Board Members.  Keep in mind, unlike the highway superintendent's position, I need 3 other votes in order to pass any laws, resolutions or take ANY legal action on ANY property maintenance issues.

                                                                                                                                      Bill Sipos

Please re-elect Bill Sipos Supervisor, the clear choice.
